Come and we'll teach you! In square dancing, the learning is almost as much fun as the fun you will have after you are an experienced dancer. Whether you're brand new to square dancing, or you danced years ago and just need a refresher to get back into it, you will be dancing to some toe-tapping music from the very first night. You and your partner will start to learn with a group of folks who are just inexperienced as you. We guarantee that you will not be embarrassed in any way as you learn! And the wonderful part is that you will actually be dancing to the music after about ten minutes on the dance floor.

Oh, you won't be doing all the fancy calls, but you and your partner will be using two or three square dance calls to move to the music, along with the rest of the group. And that's the way everyone learns to square dance.

That first night you will learn three or four calls. By the time you arrive for the next week's "lesson" you will have forgotten at least two of those calls. That's okay! The person across the square from you will have also forgotten at least two of the calls - and they are a different two than the ones you forgot. So the caller will teach those calls again, and add two or three more. By the end of the session, you will be dancing using six or seven calls, and your smile will be even wider. Each week there will be a review and new calls will be added.

If someone is having a little difficulty with a particular call (and we all did) then the caller will work with the group until all are comfortable with it. The aerobic exercise involved in an evening of square dance is equivalent to a brisk 3-5 mile walk, but you never had this much fun walking! Remember, although it takes about six months or so to learn the calls, there is no homework, and there are no tests and you will be having fun during the entire process.

Just think about it . . . the only way our club can survive and grow is by attracting new members to our group. Square dancing is different from other types of dancing you may have tried, but there is no fancy footwork to contend with. This is more like walking in rhythm and forming patterns with the other dancers. Throw in some swinging and twirling, and some optional flourishes, and you will have a ball. No one would join our club if they were embarrassed or uncomfortable during the introduction and learning process. You can rest assured every member of our club is determined and dedicated to making certain you have a great time when you visit us. During the class some Club members mix in with the new dancers to facilitating the learning process. In this role, they are known as "angels". They will help you get started in the right direction. The "angels" have a great time too.
